Testing, Testing
Jesus answered, "It is said: 'Do not put the Lord your God to the test.'" Luke 4:12
I don't like tests.
I really don't even like to have my eyes tested. I might choose number one when I should have chosen number two. And then if offered number three, my odds of being wrong go up exponentially.
I don't really trust myself. But I do trust Dr. Kent. He always takes good care of me.
When Satan tried to convince Jesus to jump off the temple, Jesus answered from Deuteronomy 6:16. "Do not put the LORD your God to the test as you did at Massah."
So what happened at Massah? "And he called the place Massah and Meribah because the Israelites quarreled and because they tested the LORD saying, 'Is the LORD among us or not?'" Exodus 17:7.
They doubted God's presence and his power. They did not trust him, even after all the amazing things he had done for them.
Their lack of faith put God to the test.
He doesn't like tests.
