Professionally Developed

If you could see me now, you would probably notice that I am much more professionally developed than I was just a few days ago. Speakers have been entertaining and enlightening. I have a few new ideas and fresh resolve.

That yearly training is part of the cadence of a teacher's life. It is a chance to start anew, the chance for new energy, the chance for a fresh start.

Regardless of our jobs or responsibilities, we all get tired. Sometimes we just want to curl up and vegetate.

And honestly, don't we sometimes just get tired spiritually, too?

There are times when we all need a chance to step away, take a deep breath, and revive. It may be no more than those few minutes spent alone with God each morning. It may be a weeklong prayer retreat.

Whatever it is, no one will make you do it. There is no state law requiring you to have so many hours of spiritual development each year. Quiet time is not mandated. God doesn't register you for anything.

But he does encourage you. He sees your weariness, and he wants to carry you through.

Let him.

"I know that you have little strength, yet you have kept my word and have not denied my name." Revelation 3:8

"Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest." Matthew 11:28

"He gives strength to the weary and increases the power of the weak. Even youths grow tired and weary, and young men stumble and fall; but those who hope in the LORD will renew their strength. They will soar on wings of eagles; they will run and not grow weary, they will walk and not be faint." Isaiah 41:29-31
