The List
My summer to-do list:
I would love to think that August 15 will arrive and everything will be marked off the list. But the realistic part of me knows that probably won't happen.
It won't happen for the simple reason that my list doesn't include the unexpected. Interruptions come. A day planned to accomplish a task winds up being a day doing something totally different. Priorities change. And after all, I am in charge of the list. It is not in charge of me.
Maybe I need another list anyway--one that looks more like this:
- Clean out the laundry room
- Clean out the hall closet
- Spray paint lamps
- Paint the swing
- Redo inside of trunk to hold sewing supplies
- Take care of flower beds
- And a host of little things as well

- Love God with all my heart, soul, mind, and strength
- Love my neighbor as myself
And then if the totally unexpected happens...
