Barnacles

Yesterday was oceans and redwoods and waterfalls. Today--barnacles.  (What can I say?  My mind goes odd places in the wee hours.)

Barnacles are not exactly rock stars in the animal kingdom. They are not very attractive, and while some of them are supposedly tasty they don't generally appear on restaurant menus. Grilled barnacles, steamed barnacles, fried barnacles? Nope, I'm just not going to order that.

Boaters hate them because they are constantly having to scrape them off hulls and propellers.

They really seem to have little redeeming value.

But no one can argue with the steadfast nature of the barnacle. When it attaches to something, it stays there for the rest of its life.

That's commitment. That's standing firm.

Go out today. Be a barnacle.

"So then, brothers, stand firm and hold to the teachings we passed on to you, whether by word of mouth or letter."  2 Thessalonians 2:15
