Airport Security

Whenever I fly, my primary source of stress is the security checkpoint. How long will the line be?  (Very, most likely.)  Shoes off, bag of liquids out, laptop out. Put everything in those pretty gray bins. Will my bags come through the x-ray machine without stopping? (Oh, please, don't back it up to take a second look!)  And then there's me. Am I going to set off the metal detector?

Now there is a new step. The full body scan.  Feet on the mark, hands up, stand still. That was fun, wasn't it?

By the time I get through security, I have been looked over from top to bottom. Hopefully no alarms went off.  Hopefully I didn't draw anyone's attention.

But what if that x-ray machine was looking for any anger and resentment that I might be toting around? Or what if the metal detector instead was a worry detector? What if that full body scanner looked at my heart? Would I set off all the alarms?

But fortunately (I think) no one else can ever really know what is in my heart. That is left to God.

And he knows it well.

"O LORD, you have searched me and you know me." Psalm 139:1
