The Word of the Year

You know how much I like words. You are welcome to your numbers; I much prefer letters. I love how they arrange themselves to describe thoughts and ideas. They gather into sentences and paragraphs and books. Words are beautiful. Well, most of them are. Some of them are harsh and some are just plain silly. Cambridge Dictionary just named its word of the year for 2018, and I fear it is a rather sad commentary on life. *Nomophobia: the fear or worry of being without your mobile phone or being unable to use it. (And yes, unfortunately I have suffered from it at times. I have certainly turned the car around more than once to retrieve a phone left on the kitchen counter.) Like the Cambridge Dictionary I also pick a word of the year. But I don't pick one for the year past. I pick one for the year to come. A word to remember. A word that calls me to better things. A word that just might change my life. That is a lot of pressure on one word. But I think this year...
