Wedding Bells
"Fill the jars with water." John 2:7
Generally, women love to go to weddings. We like to dress up in our best finery (after agonizing over what to wear). The romance makes us cry. We might even get to dance.
It's my guess that most men only go to weddings because women tell them they should. They sneak off to check the scores on ESPN and hope the reception food will make up for missing the big game.
I have no idea how Jesus felt about going to weddings. Maybe he loved them. (After all, he was there when marriage began.)
Maybe he was just there because his mother told him he needed to go. (He had certainly seen a lot of weddings since the beginning of time.)
Regardless, there he was. Using water to make wine.
Jesus and water. Miracle after miracle.
Walking on water.
Calming the storm.
Filling empty nets with fish. Twice.
Washing away my sins.
And that's the greatest miracle of all.
