Of Kings and Queens
Queen Elizabeth. Charles and Di. William and Kate. Baby George. Disney princesses galore.
It's rather ironic that our country is so very fascinated by royalty. After all, we fought hard to be a democracy. But there is something so intriguing about kings and queens, princes and princesses. Maybe it is because theirs is a position that is absolutely unattainable for us. (Well, except for Grace Kelly, of course. And if you are too young to remember her, you should really Google.)
But though we may be dazzled by the idea of crown jewels and golden thrones, in the end it all tarnishes and crumbles. Dynasties come and go. Kings and queens die just like the rest of us.
Except for the one who sits on a heavenly throne.
His kingdom will never fail, his reign will never end. His royalty will never fade. His glory is indescribable.
And someday, we will see it all.
"...and there before me was a throne in heaven with someone sitting on it. And the one who sat there had the appearance of jasper and carnelian. A rainbow, resembling an emerald, encircled the throne. Surrounding the throne were twenty-four other thrones, and seated on them were twenty-four elders. They were dressed in white and had crowns of gold on their heads. From the throne came flashes of lightning, rumblings and peals of thunder. Before the throne, seven lamps were blazing. These are the seven spirits of God. Also before the throne there was what looked like a sea of glass, clear as crystal." Revelation 4:2-6
