Crown Me

It is so nice when someone actually acknowledges the fine job I am doing. Even though I want to appear humble, deep down I am high-fiving myself. Finally, somebody else noticed.

And isn't it about time, after all? (By the way, don't feel the need to waste your money on a cheap reward. I don't need another mug. But if you want to give me a Target card, that's a different story.)

God doesn't give mugs or pens or even Target gift cards. He gives crowns.

I'll take one of those.

I earned it. Right?

But when I do come into the presence of God, wearing the crown he gave me, I will realize how very unworthy I am to even possess it. I won't be high-fiving myself. Rather, struck by awe and wonder, I will fall down at his feet and worship him. I will take that crown off and return it to the only one who truly deserves it.

I think I will start now.

"God blesses those who patiently endure testing and temptation. Afterward they will receive the crown of life that God has promised to those who love him." James 1:12

"....they lay their crowns before the throne..." Revelation 4:10
