Giving Thanks
So, what are you thankful for today? No, not those big things like family and friends. Not even the food on your table or the roof over your head. Those are the easy ones--the ones we always name.
How about the little, often forgotten things?
The laughter of little children.
The smell of wood burning in the fall air.
An email from a friend.
A deep drink of cold water.
New Crayolas.
The washer churning and the drying tumbling, all while I sit in my chair.
The sound of a sweet voice across the miles.
Eyeglasses.
A flag flapping in the breeze.
Chocolate chip cookies.
Autumn leaves.
The touch of a hand.
The list goes on and on.
And so should our thanks.
"Give thanks to the LORD, for he is good. His love endures forever." 1 Chronicles 16:34
