Just a Word

Most of you know how much I love the printed word.  I collect pretty fonts, wear jewelry with words, and have art with words.  I am personally offended on behalf of misspelled words everywhere.

I have favorite words, too.  I can never hear the word "hobo" without smiling.  (Don't ask me why.  It's just a great word.)

Faith, hope, love.

Those words are great words, too.  They are probably on everyone's list of favorites. (Possibly more so than hobo.)  I suspect that at least one of us has them hanging on the wall.  They are very sweet words.

Faith, hope, and love are words that Paul said that the church in Thessalonica lived by--words that produced much more than sweet thoughts.  These words produced action and even life change.

Their faith produced work.

Their hope inspired endurance.

Their love prompted labor.

Faith, hope, love.  Powerful words that brought about powerful lives.

Let's take those words down off the wall and put them to work in our lives.  Let's set their power free.  I can only imagine what will happen.

"We always thank God for all of you, mentioning you in our prayers.  We continually remember before our God and Father your work produced by faith, your labor prompted by love, and your endurance inspired by hope in our Lord Jesus Christ."  1 Thessalonians 1:2-3
