Home Sweet Home
The weather man says to get ready for some more cold weather. For me that means having firewood close at hand and the ingredients for hot chocolate at the ready. My easy chair will call me, and I will sit by the fire, curled up under a warm blanket. It is a wonderful way to spend the day.
But then my mind drifts to those who have no warm place to be. Those who do not have a roof to keep out the rain, who have no fire to keep them warm. They are homeless.
And I worry for them.
Of course my mind never seems content to stay in one place. It wanders and drifts, and I begin to think of how blessed I am to have God's presence in my life. I think of all the times when I could not have survived without his strength and comfort and grace. He is the roof over my head, and the warm fire in my life.
But what about those who do not have God? They do not have the comfort of his loving arms. They do not have his protection from the storms that rage. They are homeless.
And I worry for them.
"Whoever dwells in the shelter of the Most High will rest in the shadow of the Almighty. I will say of the LORD, "He is my refuge and my fortress, my God, in whom I trust.'" Psalm 91:1
