Counting Down

Retirement is almost here. Papers have been signed; boxes are slowly being packed. I can barely see around the stacks of folders to be completed; the calendar is packed with parent meetings. Yikes!

But I have little doubt it will all get done. Keys will be turned in. The countdown clock will hit zero. Hugs and tears will send me on my way.

And just like that, a new life begins.

I have great plans in my head, but I will probably just rest for a couple of weeks. After all, the end of school is always a mad race so that won't be anything new. It is always exhausting, always a relief to be done.

But this time will be different. There will be no hanging out on Teachers Pay Teachers to get new ideas for the fall. School teacher boards will drop off of Pinterest.

I think I'll just rest and wait. God will quickly fill my days with opportunities to serve, to reach out to others. I long for time to sit in his presence and just be.

The future is here. It's going to be quite the adventure!
