Six Flags
There is nothing quite like Six Flags in the Texas summer heat. Sticky children with melted Pink Things running down their arms. Long lines. Parents desperately seeking just a tiny bit of shade and the rare breeze. Fanny packs.
And yet we went. We sweated and waited and sometimes climbed on the Judge Roy Scream and the Shockwave along with our kids. We bought overpriced treats and silly souvenirs. We laughed and had a great time.
It was a happy day when the kids were old enough to go without me.
But I feel lately as if I am back on the roller coaster. The past two months have had amazing highs and painful lows. Weddings and babies have been juxtaposed against aging parents and their sickness. I have cried for joy and wept with sorrow.
Amazingly enough, God always provides strength for the journey. He provides friends and family who pray and help and encourage and rejoice alongside us. He brings laughter amid tears and blessings on top of blessings.
God is so good.
And I don't have to go to Six Flags.
